CHEMICAL PEEL

Close up of beautician (cosmetologist) a

A chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin which acts to remove the top layers. This stimulates the natural process of cutaneous regeneration, which promotes cell regeneration of the skin, so that it regrows smoother with improved cosmetic appearance.

There are 3 different types of chemical peels light, medium and deep, which relate to the different depths of skin layer removal. Deeper chemical peels take longer to heal but will tend to produce more significant results; however this type of peel is being used less and less as it can affect skin pigmentation and requires lengthily healing for the skin.  Light chemical peels are less aggressive to the skin but may need to be done more frequently to achieve desired results.

Here at GD Vibes we will be focusing on light to medium peels as although it will require additional treatments, it will provide minimal downtime and is safer for the skin barrier.

The skin can take up to 14 days to heal after a chemical peel and repeat peels should not be done within this 2 week period. You should have repeat peels at 4-6 weeks. Several appointments may be necessary to produce optimal results but you will be notified of the best course of action for your desired skin results, which could also involve other advanced facial sessions alongside.

The process for this procedure is to first prepare the skin by cleansing and degreasing the area with an antimicrobial solution. Then we apply the chosen peel to the skin, depending on what you would like to achieve, with the help our professional advise. Each peel has a set waiting time to stay on for, however we will monitor you visually to check for when the "frosting" occurs, which indicates completion, as well as be on hand if needed.

After the peel has the necessary developing time, this will then be removed and and a neutralizer will be applied.  Once this is applied you may feel a slight burning or itching sensation, which will be bearable, however this will diminish within a few seconds.  Sunscreen will then immediately be applied and will require reapply during the day, paying particular attention to the around the mouth and under your nose when you might  be using a napkin or be drying you mouth after brushing your teeth.  This is a particularly sensitive areas where you may get more peeling.

MICRO-NEEDLING

Shot of cosmetologist making mesotherapy injection with dermapen on face for rejuvenation

Micro needling is a skin treatment used to rejuvenate the skin and improve the skins surface. At GD Vibes we use a dermapen which moves across the skin, it makes multiple small needle punctures in the skin’s outer epidermis layer, creating very minor micro injuries. In response to the perceived injury, new collagen synthesis is triggered and the micro holes created allow passage of healing serums.

Results can be seen at 2-3 weeks after treatment, but peak results are usually seen at 4-6 weeks. The duration of results varies between clients and micro needling does not prevent recurrence of the condition being treated, so you may require additional treatments, which may also include other additional advanced facials sessions to see greater results.

Improves Acne / Reduces Scarring / Fewer Side Effects to Lasers or Intense Peels / Rosacea Reduction / Fights Stretch Marks / Shrinks Pores

You may feel a slight discomfort or pain during and after the procedure (often described as a stinging sensation). Pain is worse particularly in areas of bony prominence or where the skin is thinner. Immediately following the procedure, the skin may feel tight, swollen, and sensitive to the touch. It will also look red and feel sunburned. The sensitivity and redness will likely diminish significantly within 24 hours and should fully resolve by 7 days.

Prior to the procedure, a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to improve your comfort. Just remember to make this request a arrive 15 minutes before your treatment to give it time to settle into the skin.

The process for micro needling is to first prepare the skin by cleansing and degreasing the area with a antimicrobial solution, then the dermapen will be applied to the skin starting off with 0 depth setting and slowly increasing where appropriate, depending on the area you are working on and the desired results. After the procedure is completed a sterile gauze with will be applied, along with an ampule of light weight hyaluronic acid, especially formulated for micro needling.

The recovery is not more than 7 days and most clients typically around 3-4 days, which is when you can start using more active ingredients on the skin.  See my blog which provides information on additional serums that can be introduced to increase the results to your skin.  These products can be purchased from GD Vibes.
